During these uncertain times, Old Mutual asked local influencers to answer one simple question: What is your Most Treasured Moment during lockdown? Whatever your tomorrow brings, it’s the things that matter most that we need to protect.

When my daughter was born during the Coronavirus, I realized that we are in one of those world changing events that will eventually change how the future is shaped. I then wondered about all the change humans have experienced since the beginning of mankind and what is the one lesson that’s stayed consistent.
We read about past events that shaped man's thinking like the wars of the world and the stories of the bible. The men and women that went through those lessons in history never lived to see how those events shaped our life’s experience today.
I concluded that we have no entitlement to our reality, nothing is good or bad, everything is what we’ve made ourselves believe. When the world goes to war or is plagued by a pandemic we are merely being removed from our attachment to the progress that’s also made us complacent. I’m grateful that I’ve been given the chance with the rest of the world to reassess, reprogramme and unlearn.
The world has shook us, so the future doesn’t forget us, because how we evolve will be documented in history. This is how generations of the past are marked, through their will to come together for survival. Treat this moment as your chance to be remembered, but most importantly try find the lesson you need to learn.
