Part of the R180 million grant funding extended by the German development bank, KfW, will be used to build a wind turbine on the Cape Peninsula University Technology's (CPUT) campus for the training of wind technicians.
The grant is part of the German government's commitment to South Africa's Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), along with France, the UK, US and EU.
The international partners at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021 agreed to pledge an initial $8.5 billion to support South Africa's efforts to decarbonise its economy.
