The court-appointed curator of 3Sixty Life - the underwriter linked to the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) - has hit back against a strategy hatched by the union's investment arm to force the company's liquidation by migrating its policyholders to a rival underwriter.
Fagmeedah Petersen-Cook, who was appointed by the high court as the final curator of 3Sixty Life in February 2023, has revoked the access of three Numsa-linked intermediary companies to a crucial database in order to prevent them from accessing policyholders' information. This is to block them from advising 3Sixty Life clients to move their policies to a different underwriter, a strategy the union's investment arm has embarked on to force the underwriter's liquidation and put an end to its almost two years in curatorship.
