The pandemic continues to strangle foreign tourism and business travel, but Sun International has managed to cut losses and make progress in settling its debt burden.

Its income increased by 51% to R3.8 billion in the six months to end June, while the company's headline loss improved by 86% to a loss of 32 cents per share.

Its casino business, which represents approximately 70% of revenue, showed some resilience during the period despite constraints due to lockdown and curfews. The business’ revenue increased 53% to R2.3 billion compared to the prior period.
