Middle Eastern airline Emirates is taking it one day at a time regarding its South African operations in what can be described as "a capacity game", according to Fouad Caunhye, regional manager of Emirates Southern Africa.
So far, Emirates has reactivated about half of its pre-pandemic activity in Africa and has already reinstated some flights to SA. Yet, their current approach is one of "extreme caution", says Caunhye, because a lot depends on what authorities decide to do to ensure there is no resurgence of the virus and no cross-border contaminations.
