The South African Police Service's IT network was down on Tuesday and Wednesday after botched maintenance work resulted in the reconfiguration of its firewall.
The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) said that it would take action and intervene after one of its service providers crashed the SAPS network.
The head of corporate affairs at SITA, Tlali Tlali, confirmed that the incident, which occurred at 22:00 on 16 January, resulted in disruptions in SAPS services including email, internet, intranet, VPN, and applications.
