Carling Black Label beer – affectionately known as Zamalek - is holding its own even in the presence of a growing craft beer industry, with the 200-year-old beer brand leading the double-digit quarterly revenue and income growth at SAB.
This emerged as its parent AB-InBev released strong third-quarter results on Thursday that showed South Africa featuring prominently among the top-performing countries in its portfolio.
In a statement after the release of AB-InBev's results, SAB CEO Richard Rivett-Carnac said the local unit's performance was led by revenue growth of more than 30% in its core brand Carling Black Label.
