Investment update | What investors need to know about BHP's bid for Anglo

South African markets closed in the green yesterday, led by gains in precious metal mining stocks. Platinum miners, Anglo American Platinum, Impala Platinum and Northam Platinum jumped 5.5%, 4.3% and 3.1%, respectively.

Food company, Astral Foods advanced 5.3%, after the company stated that it expects to report a more than fivefold increase in interim earnings.

Gold miners, Sibanye Stillwater, AngloGold Ashanti and Gold Fields gained 4.6%, 4.4% and 2.4%, respectively.
