M-Net responds to MasterChef scam claims

2012-07-30 11:40
The social media networks blew up on Friday 27th July after an article in the Citizen made claims about MasterChef winner Deena Naidoo's prize.

We posted an article on Food24 that attracted many outraged comments from our readers, the majority of who clearly felt mislead by M-Net.

This what some of our readers had to say when the story broke:

Charles 'DSTV/Multichoice and the MasterChef brand should be ASHAMED !!!

The advertised prizes were/are clear, the perception created was deliberate and accurate, but now suddenly it's not 8 million in prizes, but only 1???

DSTV/MULTICHOICE AND MASTERCHEF SA, YOU GUYS ARE A DISGRACE TO REALITY TV AND THE WORLDWIDE MASTERCHEF BRAND!!! '

Craig, 'That's like stating someone could "win their very own Ferrari worth 2 Million rand"..... and then only allowing them to drive it for 2 years.... and stating that its replacement value is 2 Million'

M-Net and Tsogo Sun's response

Citizen lodges complaint

The Citizen has now lodged a complaint with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) against Talk Radio 702 for slamming The Citizen's front page MasterChef story as misleading.

"Robbie referred to the headline and report as misleading, and 702 then afforded M-Net spokesman Ingrid Engelbrecht the opportunity to label the report as “very inaccurate”.  Read more...
