Keen to hide your JoJo tank? Don’t! Rather incorporate it into your garden design and make the most of this must-have for every yard. Enjoy water storage that’s attractive and functional.

Why choose a JoJo tank?

It’s safe JoJo tanks are made of food-grade linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). It’s recyclable, UV-resistant, corrosion-resistant and BPA-free.

Low maintenance An additional black inner layer prevents algae growth, which is especially important if the water will be used throughout your home and for consumption.

Durability The ribs of JoJo tanks are strategically positioned; they’re closer together at the top and bottom for added strength. The wall thickness is also increased at the bottom of the tank where the water pressure is greatest. The tanks have no vertical joints or weak points and allow for expansion and contraction in hot and cold weather conditions.

Aesthetics JoJo tanks are available in a variety of colours – these colour pigments boast excellent lightfastness and they’re weather-resistant for extended outdoor use without fading.

When choosing a JoJo tank, there are several different factors to consider…

Space
This is the most important factor. JoJo tanks have five different profiles; the one you select will depend on available space, application and personal preference:

  • Vertical: ideal for large gardens where space isn’t an issue, these tanks are available in various sizes up to a maximum of 20 000L.
  • Slimline: these work well in small gardens and courtyards; they range from 750L to 2 500L.
  • Low Profile & Horizontal: these tanks are perfect for spaces with height restrictions, such as an installation under a deck.
  • Underground: if floor space is a problem, these tanks are the solution. They have a robust shell designed to withstand the pressure of an underground installation, even when empty.

Application

This depends on your end goal. Identify why you need a JoJo tank and then choose accordingly:

  • Rainwater harvesting: this depends on the rainfall in your area, roof size and water usage. In areas with high rainfall, a smaller tank will work but if you live in an area where rain is concentrated in one season, larger tanks are key in order to keep you going through the dry months.
  • Municipal backup: if water supply is erratic in your neighbourhood, fill up with municipal water when it is available – how much you will need depends on how often the water supply is interrupted, and how many people you need to provide for in your household. The SA average is 150L of water per person per day.
  • Fully integrated system: for this approach you will need enough storage to collect rainwater and municipal water as backup. This system is your best bet for an uninterrupted water supply but will need maximum water-safe storage capacity, so choose your tank size accordingly.

Colour

With nine colours to choose from, you’re sure to find a tank that will suit your style.

  • Earthy colours: choose natural shades such as Wintergrass, Khaki Brown, Bushveld or Sandstone for a rustic garden.
  • Greys: these are spot on for a more contemporary setting. You can match the colour of your tank with the colour of your roof for design consistency.
  • Brights: make a bold statement with Royal Blue, Red or the ever popular JoJo Green!
