The Tinderet MP and ODM chairman Henry Kosgey has insisted that he is interested in being Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s running mate in the forth coming elections, citing his vast experience in politics.
“I am in the race to deputize Raila in the next coming elections, as a running mate since I have a 30 year political experience,” he said.
Kuttuny who was also present during the declaration supported Kosgey’s bid for the running mate, but maintained he supports URP party leader William Ruto’s bid for presidency.
“I wish all the best my brother but I will support Hon Ruto’s bid for the presidency,” said the Cherangany MP.
And even before the dust settles on the members of parliaments greediness, ODM Chairman Henrey Kosgey and Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny have agreed with parliament’s legislations on presidential candidate’s to vie for other elective positions.
While presiding over a funds drive at St. Pauls Kiptoror school in Cherenagany constituency, the legislators said the law is the same in developed countries like USA where presidential aspirants are allowed to vie for the positions of a senator of which they relinquish if they win the presidency.
They said it is not wise that presidential candidates who loose the elections are sent packing when most of them have political experience
needed to run this country.
Kuttunny said: “We can’t afford to send packing all those in the presidency as only one of them will make it at the elections.”
“This clause will give an opportunity for those who fail to clinch the presidency a seat to remain actively in politics and offer political advice
to the country,” noted Kosgey.
They also supported parliament’s passage of a law that requires all legislators to have a degree saying the legislature needs elites to
drive the development agenda.
“Education is a key component in the management of this country and we saw it fit as a parliament to pass the law for all parliamentary aspirants to have at least a degree as their academic qualification,” said the ODM chairman.
They called on the electorate to embrace peace as the country heads towards the General elections saying this country needs not to have a
repeat of what happened in 2007.
