NEMA Meru is warning bar owners and quarry people against noise pollution.
Speaking at NEMA offices, the officer in charge of Imenti North district, Mr. Joseph Kamau cautioned bar owners within Meru town against playing loud music at night as it causes disturbances to the residents by denying them good sleep.
Quarry people were also warned against the use of too loud explosives during the mining of building stones and ballast in areas closer to residential places. He cited Kambakia mining cite as one of the examples.
He said that those ignoring the alerts will be arrested and be prosecuted in court.
Meanwhile Mr.Kamau said they are pushing hard to ensure Imenti North has clean, secure and sustainable environment in line with the country’s vision 2030 frame work.
He reiterated that this will only be achieved through promotion of environmental conservation and improvement of pollution and waste management.
“We will try our level best to ensure that all the stakeholders involved in environmental conservation play their parts, “he added.
