Cape Town City remain without a win in the DStv Premiership this year following a 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows on Sunday evening.

Three additions were installed by the host, with Marc Van Heerden, Luyolo Slatsha and Luphumlo Sifumba before Arrows restored Ismail Watenga back between the sticks.

City, who are winless since the resumption back in February, looked to register first minutes from kick-off but Watenga managed to smother Khanyisa Mayo’s header.

Abafana Besthende overturned the slow opening spell four minutes apart to see Gladwin Shitolo head in the side-netting after attacking a pin-point cross from the right-side.

In a pretty energised opening, Abafana Besthende were caught square around the half-hour mark and unfortunately saw Darwin Gonzalez drag a snap shot wide of the mark.

Watenga was undone six minutes to the interval when a probing header right at the back-post by Gonzalez caught him right at the near post unable to smother it going over the line.

Arrows responded to going behind minutes past the break where a one-touch move around the area led to a cutback to the near post for Nduduzo Sibiya to finish from close-range.

The host were keen to restore the advantage ten minutes through a telling effort out on the far side by Gonzalez, but Watenga leaned back to tip for a corner.

City introduced fresh pair of legs in the final 15 minutes, with Heaven Seeretse, Patrick Fisher and Relebogile Mokhuoane replacing Slatsha, Sifumba and Jaedin Rhodes respectively.

However, the introductions didn’t spark any intense attacking fortitude with the match evenly balanced following the closing stages and finished all square.
