It's only natural to reflect on your birthday, and rapper Nasty C shared his state of mind after celebrating his 27th birthday, saying it was an emotional day.

He shared his gratitude on his Instagram account – to those who wished him well on the day – and said he had a great day.

''It was a very emotional day for me. As you can understand, it was a little bittersweet because, for obvious reasons, if you know me and my story, you know why. There were a lot of reasons for me to celebrate because my Price City Mixtape turned 9 Years Old, which is crazy," he said.

The father-of-one said his birthday celebration was bittersweet because of the death of the late rapper, AKA, who was murdered on his birthday last year.

''It was an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least, and I feel like it will always be that way," he said.

He said he felt better after speaking to his sister, who gave him uplifting and kind words.

''She gave me a solution to heal and deal with other emotions that come with that day and how to process everything around that day. So 10 February will always be a tricky day for me, but with the love I get from my fans and my family, I can get through it with a positive spirit.''

''Rest in peace to Mama Ivy, and rest in peace to AKA; thank you, guys, so much for the birthday wishes, and also thank you to all the real fans who know that Price City was turning 9 years old,'' Nasty C added.''

Saturday, 10 February, marked the first anniversary of the murder of rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and his lifelong friend Chef Tebello' Tibz' Motsoane.

In a statement released on the first anniversary of the murders, national police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said officers already had positive evidence linking "identified suspects" to the crime.

And, she said: "...others are in custody related to other matters. Others are on the run, and the team is hot on their heels".

"We are aware of limited communication with the affected families. The investigation is at a very sensitive stage, and we have therefore taken the decision to limit all communication related to this matter," said Mathe.

Last year Nasty C welcomed his son Oliver into the world with his life partner Sammie and released his album I Love It Here

The rapper recently shared a clip of himself celebrating his new-dad bod.

"I love myself, and I'm happy. I look great; I'm a strong black man, a strong father. This doesn't make me insecure at all. In fact, it makes me very confident," he said.
