Square-cut or pear-shaped? Google reveals trending engagement ring search terms

Since 2017, search interest in "pear engagement ring" has surpassed "round engagement ring" and continues to be searched more today. 

This is according to Google Trends data showing that more people in the United States are interested in engagement trends. 

According to the search engine, searches for engagement rings spike every holiday season in the US and again around Valentine's Day.

Data on the Google Trends dashboard shows that South Africans search for this term between late January and Early February, with interest in the term steadily declining since November 2018.  

Americans are also searching for things like "promise rings" and "ring size" in December. 

In the last month, "promise rings for her" increased by over 4 000%.  

It's not just female partners that people are thinking about, as searches for men's rings rose by over 200%. Interest in diamonds rose about 140% in the past 30 days. 

Google Trends reports that in the past month, people have also searched more for "diamond colour chart" and 'vs2 diamond price."

While "lab-grown diamonds" and "natural diamonds" are both searched at record highs this year, "lab-grown diamonds" surpassed "natural diamond" in 2019 and interest in the search term has been on the rise since.
