When the first European settlers arrived in South Africa in the 1600s, many things changed for black South Africans, in that a lot of our cultural ways were erased and forgotten.
We learned the settlers' language, wore their clothes, adapted to their culture and incorporated their way of life, including having a white wedding.
Today, in modern South Africa, weddings consist of two wedding ceremonies – a traditional wedding known as the official wedding, as well as a white wedding.
