In celebration of Leap Day, South African giant retailer Game launched a can of Koo baked beans into space, being the first retailer to do it.

The can of beans was sent into the atmosphere using a custom weather balloon on 22 February 2024 as part of Game’s Leap Day campaign highlighting the retailer's Leap Day promo weekend.

According to the retailer, the weather balloon was strategically chosen to ensure that the launch and trip were eco-friendly, leaving no damage or remnants behind. The first launch took place on 20 February 2024 to test the product and the balloon.
