Cairo - Egyptian security officials say a police bus has collided with a truck south of Cairo, killing 16 people including 13 conscripts.
They say the truck was carrying bricks near Beni Suef, about 95km south of Cairo, when the crash occurred, sending the vehicles into a roadside canal on Friday.
Separately on Saturday morning in Assuit, 320km south of Cairo, officials say a four-story building collapsed, killing six people and injuring six others.
Both types of accidents are common in Egypt, where roads and buildings are poorly maintained and traffic and construction regulations often go unheeded. Road accidents killed about 13 000 people in Egypt in 2014.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to brief journalists.
