Brussels - A European Union fund supporting peacekeeping missions in Africa is to be replenished with $433m, the bloc's executive said on Wednesday.

The African Peace Facility helps the African Union and other regional organisations launch peacekeeping missions, as well as institution building and mediation initiatives. It is currently funding operations in Somalia, the Central African Republic and Sudan.

The money pledged on Wednesday is to cover the 2011-2013 period, the European Commission said in a statement.
