At least 20 killed, 36 wounded in Sinai attacks – report

El-Arish - Egyptian state TV says simultaneous attacks on police and military targets in the Sinai Peninsula on Thursday killed 20 people, including civilians, and wounded 36.

The TV report gave no further information. Egyptian officials said wide-ranging attacks involving a car bomb and mortar rounds struck the Northern Sinai provincial capital el-Arish, the nearby town of Sheik Zuwayid and the town of Rafah bordering Gaza.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press.
