Bus crash kills 21 in Ghana

Accra September - A road accident involving three buses has killed 21 people in central Ghana, local radio stations reported Monday.

A bus driver attempted to overtake a vehicle and hit another bus near Asankare on the main highway linking the capital Accra with the second-largest city Kumasi late on Sunday. A third bus then crashed into the other two, but its passengers were not injured.

It took rescuers several hours to remove the dead and the injured from the scene.

Fifteen passengers died on the spot and the rest in hospital. More than 10 people were in critical condition, doctors said.
