Cape Town – African Union Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has reportedly called on AU member states to sing the Union's anthem alongside their national hymns at all official functions.
According to the
Times of Zambia, Dlamini-Zuma, who was speaking during a two-day retreat for AU and permanent representatives in Hawassa, Ethiopia, said the singing of the AU anthem would promote Africa's integration.
Dlamini –Zuma said many people in Africa did not know the continental anthem and yet it was important that it be embraced by all the people in the AU member states..
She singled out Namibia as the only country that sang the AU anthem along with the Namibian national anthem at all official functions.
