Opposition going on and on about Nkandla - Zuma

Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday criticised opposition parties using the Nkandla saga during their electioneering, the SABC reported.

"They have never kept quiet. They shout Nkandla every day," he told the SABC.

Zuma said parties were actually wasting their opportunity during campaigning to tell voters what their parties were bringing to the table, because they were so preoccupied with Nkandla.

"They are shouting Nkandla, Nkandla every time. Nkandla has its own processes," he said.

The upgrades to Zuma's Nkandla homestead have been under intense spotlight since the public protector's report was released.

On 19 March, Public Protector Thuli Madonsela released her report on costly security upgrades at Zuma's private Nkandla home, saying Zuma should have asked questions about the scale, costs, and affordability of security upgrades which could end up being as much as R240m.

An ad hoc committee has been set up to consider submissions made by Zuma in response to Madonsela's report.
