Zuma booed at Limpopo rally

Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma was booed while on stage during the ANC’s election rally at Malamulele, Limpopo, on Wednesday, according to reports.

The City Press tweeted that Zuma addressed a packed stadium, filled with residents wanting response to a call for their own municipality.

In 2009, the ANC won 85.27% of the votes in Limpopo. (See News24's elections drill down here.)

The unruly crowd who chanted “municipality, municipality” was urged to behave when Zuma addresses them.

According to City Press, when Limpopo Premier Stanley Mathabatha urged the crowd to listen to the ANC president, the booing persisted.

Zuma said: “I don’t see the difficulty of resolving Malamulele matter in the facts are presented.”

He’s assurance that the matter would be resolved were met by calls of “when? Where”.

“That is all I can say. I don't want to tell a lie. I can't take a decision on my own, am not a dictator,” Zuma responded.

Malamulele residents left the stadium booing as Zuma promised to attend to their request.
