DA confident of Nelson Mandela Bay victory

Port Elizabeth – The Democratic Alliance is so confident of a win at the polls in Nelson Mandela Bay that the party is already planning its victory lap.

Addressing thousands of supporters on Sunday at the party’s 'We can win' rally in Nelson Mandela Bay in Port Elizabeth, DA leader Mmusi Maimane said the party would come back to the city to slaughter cows in celebration of their anticipated victory.

DA mayoral candidate Athol Trollip said the country was 10 days away from "historic change in Nelson Mandela Bay". He said they were confident of a victory in the city.

"The DA can win, because we are ready to improve service delivery, to create jobs and to stop the corruption of Nelson Mandela Bay under the ANC. Our offer is built on reconciliation, redress and progress. As the DA, as people of NMB, we are one," he said.

Maimane said he was more certain now than ever that change was coming to the city.

"Every time I drive into communities here, I realise that this city has had enough of a government that no longer cares about them. Every time I speak to people here, I know that they will do the right thing on 3 August. I know that they will vote this ANC government out and they will vote a DA government in."

Only care about themselves

He said the DA was getting bigger and stronger in every community in Nelson Mandela Bay.

‘’In fact, we have already overtaken the ANC in the metro. They will find out on the morning of 4 August that they are now the second biggest party in Nelson Mandela Bay.”

He called on the thousands of supporters to vote the DA into power, and if they did not do their job in the next five years, to vote them out again.

“It will be a fitting gesture for the DA to win this metro, which is named after Madiba, because we are the only party that stands for his values of unity, the rule of law, and building an inclusive economy. We care for the people of South Africa. We care about the future of South Africa. Zuma and the ANC only care about themselves.”
