Beijing - A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck China's southwestern province of Sichuan on Tuesday, China's official Xinhua news agency reported.
The quake hit Kangding county in the mountainous west of the province at 23:19 (15:19 GMT) at a depth of 16km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Centre.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
