Man with 500kg of perlemoen crashes car after high speed chase

Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for alleged possession of 500kg of perlemoen in Claremont, Cape Town on Friday, Western Cape police said.

The sea border patrol spotted a Nissan LDV in Constantia Nek and followed it, spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said.

When the driver saw the police he began driving recklessly, resulting in a high speed chase which ended when the driver crashed into a tree at the corners of Canterbury Road and Rhodes Avenue in Claremont.

The 28-year-old was taken to hospital under police guard.

He is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court soon.
