Cairo - Police in Egypt's Red Sea province on Tuesday uncovered a workshop where endangered fish were being "embalmed", the interior ministry reported.
A picture posted on the ministry's official Facebook page showed a row of shark-like fish, preserved with their jaws gaping, in a dusty room.
The ministry said two fishermen responsible for the workshop had been arrested.
Police seized 10 embalmed sharks, two turtles, three eels and 50 starfish as well as coral and other fish.
The sharks found were threatened with extinction, making it forbidden to fish for them, the ministry said.
