SA team crushed by Everest decision

Cape Town – The South African climbers, who have been waiting to see if their climb will be allowed, has finally been notified that they will not be able to climb Mt Everest.

According to Ubuntu Everest’s Facebook page the group received the news on Thusday.

The Nepal’s tourism ministry, after mounting pressure from a number of Sherpas called off all expeditions up Mt Everest.

The South African expedition team, consisting of Saray Khumalo and Sibusiso Vilane have been given an extension on their permits for five years.

According to the team they have two options, come back home or climb another mountain.

Their bodies are adequately acclimated to the atmosphere so they may decide to climb a different mountain.

According to the tourism ministry the mountain is open but it is not safe to climb it this year.

Khumalo had hoped to be the first black African woman to summit Everest.
