Johannesburg - A man and a teenager were arrested for the possession of perlemoen (abalone) at a house in Fisherhaven, near Hermanus, on Friday, Western Cape police said.
"On arrival the premises was searched and a total of 13 417 pieces of abalone were found in a freezer and confiscated," said Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.
"A case of possession of abalone without a permit and possession of gill nets was opened."
The two, aged 48 and 16, would appear in the Hermanus Magistrate's Court soon.
