Motsoaledi told reporters in Pretoria, "for citizens of South Africa who wish to travel to these countries, they will be requested to delay their travel unless it is absolutely essential for them to travel.
This ban comes just after it was reported that tourists travelling from eastern countries have cancelled their trips to South Africa out of fear that they might contract the deadly virus.
The death toll in West Africa due to the latest outbreak of Ebola exceeds 1 350 and is expected to grow.
