WATCH: Police fire rubber bullets at protesting children in PE

News24 journalist on the ground, Ahmed Areff, shot this video of police firing rubber bullets at children on an embankment - who were pelting a nearby police van with rocks in the aftermath of protests in Port Elizabeth. Watch.

Ahmed caught the footage as he was driving away from Stanford road where the protests took place. Protesters had barricaded a stretch of road as shown in the video.

Parents, pupils and taxi associations protested over the illegal closure of schools in Port Elizabeth's northern areas on Monday.

Schools were shut down due of a number of problems, the main one being a shortage of teachers, the Herald reported.
