accreditation

Two weeks after the release of a documentary that shed light on alleged racism and discrimination against “students of colour” at Stellenbosch University, students gathered to march on campus and submit a memo of demands to the university’s authorities. Watch.

The documentary, titled Luister, or “listen,” was produced by Contraband Cape Town and Open Stellenbosch. The documentary is described as “a series of interviews” in which “students recount instances of racial prejudice that they continue to experience in the town of Stellenbosch, and the enormous challenges that they face due to the use of Afrikaans as a language of teaching at the university.”
