WATCH: Teacher describes how pupil died

Kabelo Maqache, Deputy Principal of Molapo High School in Leribe, Lesotho has described the incident to News24's Amanda Khoza who was at the scene. 

The 16-year-old pupil from Lesotho, who was on the school outing, has died after he knocked his head againt a pole in full view of his fellow pupils on Thursday. 

KwaZulu-Natal EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the bus carrying school children was travelling down a narrow road, Dick King, off Anton Lembede Street [Smith Street] in the Durban CBD when the accident happened.

“It is believed that the boy’s head was [sticking] out of the window and the driver drove past a street pole on the side of the road," he explained.
