Video footage was uploaded online of the shoot out at the Oriental Plaza in Johannesburg. Watch as chaos ensues after shots are fired.
A man was shot dead in a botched robbery attempt at the FNB Bank at the Oriental Plaza in Fordsburg on Friday morning, said police.
Two guards had gone to collect money at the bank when they were confronted by two armed men, said Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
"A shoot-out ensued and one suspect was shot dead," said Dlamini.
The other robber managed to flee the scene.
