Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane slated the African National Congress (ANC) ahead of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, 11 February 2016.
In this interview Maimane slammed the ANC's National Development Plan (NDP) and other plans tabled by the majority party as having "absolutely no consequence". Maimane sat down with News24's Erin Bates to detail his party's priorities ahead of SONA 2016.
He begins discussing economic growth, then argues teachers' unions have too much power and education is essential for the country's future. "I don't fight against unions, I fight against their over-reach," he explained when questioned on his attitude towards teachers' unions such as SADTU.
