Political analyst Richard Calland says that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have both injected life into Parliament and established themselves as rule breakers. "They have a strong political brand," he says and their focus on economic freedom resonates with many South Africans.
In this interview Calland details his concerns going into the State of the Nation Address in 2016. They include the atmosphere in the majority party, the African National Congress (ANC). "I will look to see whether this is a political party behind its leader," he tells News24's Erin Bates.
During the 2015 State of the Nation Address (SONA) EFF Members of Parliament repeatedly asked President Jacob Zuma for details on when he would pay back money for non-security upgrades to Nkandla.
