4 Important Things You Mustn’t Forget

In this day and age, we are always running from one place to the other, checking our emails and answering our phones, while liking images of a cute puppy your friend just posted on Facebook. And as soon as we finish up, other things appear to grab our attention, and no matter if you are a mother or a CEO, you always have something to do, and there are so many things we tend to forget. Unless you are a master of organization, or you have a full-time secretary that will constantly remind you of everything, you should be aware of some more important things that under no circumstances should fall under your radar.

Move a little

The importance of being fit is not something only gym enthusiasts should be aware of since it can have big implications on everyone’s health and overall lifestyle. There are many exercises that you can do while at home, so you don’t have to worry about going to the gym. If this doesn’t work for you, then you simply have to face the fact that you are – lazy. Other ways of incorporating exercise in your daily life include: walking or riding a bike to work and not driving, taking the stairs, whenever you can, instead of an elevator.

You can even mimic the hardcore ironman competition in your daily training to keep things fun - swim for a few laps at the pool then dry off, jump on your bike and ride home, where you can run up and down the street a few times. This can make exercise fun, but you can also just jump rope for 10-15 minutes. You can even invite a friend to exercise with you - this way you won't get bored and you’ll do something that is really good for your body.

An apple a day won't kill you

Let’s make one thing perfectly clear – we all like junk food, and it is something almost genetically inside us that makes us crave foods that are fatty, salty, sugary, simply because those ingredients were not that easy to find in nature (when we used to live in nature, that is), and our bodies think that we have to eat as much as we can because we won't get another chance anytime soon. But with the development of technology and chemistry, those ingredients are plentiful, but we still like a fatty cheeseburger and a sugary, fizzy drink more than lettuce and water.

But this behavior will create a number of problems for you, and can cause a number of illnesses, including type 2 diabetes and obesity. There are some healthier solutions that include preparing your own meals, drinking natural, squeezed juices and including a lot of fruits and vegetables into your diet, or you can even drink some supplements that can be quite good.

More reading, less watching

The same way you need carrots for your body, you need books for your mind. Reading books is a much more stimulating experience than simply watching TV shows, and it is an active process, where you brain is really engaged in recreating the scenes in your mind, as opposed to simply sitting in front of a TV. Books can improve your vocabulary and introduce you to many new ideas which will broaden your mind, and it is a perfect way of visiting foreign countries without ever leaving the room, or having unreal experiences without actually going to Mars.

The benefits of reading are endless, but you will need to make some time for it, at least an hour every two days, and it would be best if you could do it before you go to sleep. This way you will be reading at least a book a month, and over time, even your personal library will grow.

The importance of family

Spending time with your family is really important, and it cannot be stated enough. Not only will you feel better, but if you make time and visit your parents, it will also brighten their day, especially if you haven’t seen them in a long time. The same thing applies when it comes to your spouse and children if you have any.

Make sure to, at least once a week, make a family night where you can watch a movie or play a board game – this will help you become stronger as a unity. If you are unable to physically go and visit relatives or your parents, be kind enough and call them at least once or twice a week. It can be a short phone call just to check up on them, but be aware that these shows of affection will mean the world to them.
