ANC Elias Motsoaledi Trying their Lucky

The Frustrated ANC within the Elias Motsoaledi Local Council seems to be lacking grossly in the understanding of the role and function that an official opposition has to play within the ambit of its responsibility.

This statement being in view of an apparent decision taken at the ‘Caucus Meeting of the ANC Elias Motsoaledi Sub-Region’ that was held on the 26th instant, at which meeting it was ‘apparently decided’ to act decisively (conclusively, authoritatively, determinedly) against the Cllr Mogotji, in specific the Representative of Ward 10 Ntwane, duly elected to serve the voters and their interest, had as a consequence of no one being prepared to take any action in the irregular, unorthodox and un-procedural manner in which the Municipal Manager was employed, felt it his duty to in accordance with his mandate, open a case against the Municipal Manager in the Groblersdal SAPS office which at this point in time is being investigated.

For this appropriate action taken the Seun Mogotji are now being singled out, and apparently also the ANC Elias Motsoaledi considering to lay charges against him, but Council, seems to forget the fact that the Official Opposition do not report to the ANC Elias Motsoaledi, and that even in Parliament where the ruling party acted against the opposition, they were forced and obliged to take the matter to Court for arbitration and ruling in their unlawful actions, and if this applies within the ambit of the highest authority in the land, why should it be different within the ambit of the Council, for the Opposition to seek legal remedial action in this regard.

The deliberation (consideration, debate, planning) of the ANC in Elias Motsoaledi Sub-Region and its caucus to act against the representative of Council, would amount to the direct infringement of his constitutional rights that are even recognized within the enclave of Parliament as being the most appropriate and legal manner to act in order to have resolution in the matter at hand.

If the ANC doesnot understand this, then they should enroll on a course of understanding the role of government and its opposition parties within especially the former speaker Mme Busi Mahlangu.
