African needs cultural rebirth

Culture originally meant the cultivation of the soul or mind. which today it can be defined as the quality in a society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc. The cultural values of a community give it an identity, which is learned and passed on from the older generations to the newer generations. It links people together from festival they celebrate to food they eat. Culture influence one's reasoning, principles and philosophies of life towards social life.

It is heart breaking to see what happens in our country day to day where school children (mostly black) gather to take drugs or loitering the streets during school hours, Children are raped and mutilated, leaders misuse public funds, maladministration on the rise, lazy stuff at public offices and strikes that keeps as all awake.

All this problems rises because we lack establishment of cultural centers in black townships where school children will meet after school and engage for spiritual growth. It will be of great important s for Africans to be at the forefront of a cultural rebirth, simply because a nation becomes politically and economically weak if it does not take pride in its culture. Deriving from our cultures to western culture has strengthened African's down fall, since western cultures have failed to bring development in Africa.

Most enterprising groups such as Japanese and Chinese have deep cultural roots and stained cultural identity. they are able to start business and grow their economies because they have high personal confidence which is rooted in their cultures. The need for cultural rebirth is the need for a rising African. Without culture a nation remain intellectually rootless.
