Are we still paying attention?

Generally, life seems to be getting more and more difficult by the day. This is at least my own observation, and this has brought so many questions which I can't seem to answer myself or at least convince myself that things will get better.

We as humans seem to be getting confused as to what our priorities are or at least what we are living for, but that's if we are even working towards the same goal. Governments preach that they want to better life for everyone while scientist assures the people that they are studying and trying to find ways to make human life better. But in the end it seems that things are only getting worse.

We are witnessing a lot of mixed messages and actions from governments from around the globe. The education quality seems to be deteriorating while the same goverments are telling us that they are ding their best for the future leaders. On the other hand crime is getting worse while the police are busy shooting at the innocent. The power supply system in South Africa seems to be getting worse while the prices are going high and what is worse is the same government owned enterprise seems to be more worried about profit! (http://business.iafrica.com/news/972660.html , http://business.iafrica.com/news/972590.html), I wonder if the electricity users have the right to claim or sue the same for non delivery. I mean in my understanding if you don't pay your bills they switch off your power supply, but you as a consumer/user must understand the so called load shedding. This is but a tip of the ice. I am not going to mention the obvious, like your e-tolls as those who can afford make and stick to their decisions to say this is the only way the roads can be funded. There are those who spend our tax money on takeaways while those paying the taxes are carrying lunch boxes to work(http://mg.co.za/article/2013-09-16-00-n-cape-premier-defends-r50k-fast-food-bill). The list of local issues are endless but we each carry on with our daily life's as if this problems will sort themselves out.

Are we really becoming more and more ignorant to what is going on around us? Is life getting better or are we blinded by the limited technologies we know? People have become glued to their mobile phones as if life depends on them. The reason i bring the mobile phone in this is that our attention is really focused somewhere and not on what is going on around us, and honestly we spend most of our time on our phones.

Just in closing. The resources on earth seems to be getting depleted and i assure you, with all the space activities that our governments are involved in, there must be something worth focusing on. There is no country or countries that would spend so much money just to study a comet ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_%28spacecraft%29 ). we are yet to get detailed close up images of the moon!
We live in a world where facts and fiction get blurred
