Job, a righteous man of his generation speaking of the people before the flood had the following to say, "Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood: Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them? "--Job 15:15-18. It is evident from the verses that the spirit of Atheism was in existence in the times of Noah among the inhabitants, so this spirit was to arise in the last days. It was not long after the papacy was losing its power in the Dark ages that Atheism was to gain dominance in the minds of some men in power since the french revolution. Others may rejoice saying Christianity is ''dying'' and Atheism arises, not knowing that we are repeating the times Noah, that men are getting ripe for destruction. Paul talking about the last days said: "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils."--1 Timothy 4:1. It is not a thing to rejoice over that other Christians will leave the faith, but when man who had the knowledge of the truth begin to heed to satanic teachings and ways of the world, they are slowly being driven away from the faith. As it was in the days of Noah so shall it be in the coming of the Son of man.
Additional details about those days, Christ expand in the book of Matthew: "For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."--Matthew 24:38, 39. It was God who invented eating, then is there anything wrong with it? God invented marriage, is there anything wrong with it? God invented drinking, but what will be wrong with it now? God has given these gifts to men to enjoy, they were a blessing to them as long as they were used right. The problem Christ is pointing out here is that man in the last days will abuse these gifts. Man will not be eating healthy or drinking right, consuming things that destroy the body, while also men have not only abused the gift of eating and drinking, he have tried to do away with the order of marriage, Christ said God made man and woman, but the world has come and say, "No! We want our own ways, we will marry a man to a man..." They have become like those people before the flood when they asked; "What can the Almighty do for them?"
Not to just go without mentioning the other facts and the state of that world which was destroyed by flood. We are told: "And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually...The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence."--Genesis 6:5, 11. The effects of corrupt thoughts led to corrupt actions. The earth we told "was filled with violence" as a result. Christ talking of the last generation said; " And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."--Matthew 24:12. You can attest with me that violence has been greatly been increasing, and that man's minds are also been fed with foolish things which have a tendency to create unholy thoughts. As it was in the Days of Noah, so shall it be in the coming of the Son of Man.
Lastly, though in the midst of so a faithless and wicked generation, God had one who was a true follower of Jehovah. Even though many forsook God and went after doctrines of devils, there Noah arose as a shining morning star. Of him is said: "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God." "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly"--Genesis 6:8, 9 and 2 Peter 2:5 respectively.
John who was seeing the true worshipers of God in the end times says of them: "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." " And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."--Revelation 14:12; 12:17; 19:10 in their order. It is for you to inquire of the people who "keep the commandments of God" and have "The testimony of Jesus" which is called "The Spirit of Prophecy". These are they in the midst of a sin filled world and unbelieving Christendom shall carry the banner of truth till the second coming. As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the coming of the Son of Man. How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?
