The main intention is alleviate poverty and create a better socio-economic position - the question is, how could this be achieved? If education is a weapon which can make a 'farm worker's child to be a doctor and a peasant child to be a president'- other means needs to be explored.
We regarding schools as our factories that manufacture different materials for different products, therefore once results for grade 12 are released, let all the government departments, national, provincial and local municipalities be part of the event to recruit eligible learners for specific disciplines that are shortcomings in certain delivery areas.
These candidates will be given bursaries to complete their studies and after graduating will go back to serve in the institutions for stipulated years, unlike taking only Top Achievers and leave thousands of learners destroying their futures in bogus institutions. Once those learners complete their studies households will have someone working, and in that way impact on poverty will be made.
