Catrakilis
On Saturday, the Western Province flyhalf made yet another statement. Catrakilis delivered a powerful reminder of his ability to influence a knockout match.
Catrakilis slotted 5 goals from 6 attempts, as well as a drop goal late in the match. He kicked well out of hand to drive the Bulls back into their own territory. He also pushed through a clever grubber that led to Cheslin Kolbe's second try.
This season, Catrakilis has started 9 of 11 Currie Cup games of which they have won all 9 matches. Province played some superb rugby this season with Catrakilis at flyhalf for the bulk of the games.
WP have played with attacking intent when Catrakilis has started this season. WP just look like the complete package with Catrakilis at 10.
Catrakilis has slotted 46 of 49 attempts at goal this season. In 2012 he helped WP win the Currie Cup title against a Sharks side packed with Springboks in Durban.
Coleman
Coleman does possess the ability to ignite the dangerous backs of Western Province like Kolbe, Senatla and van Wyk.
Coleman has played 2 of the 11 games for Western Province this season and Wp have lost both of those games, more specifically they lost against the Lions with him at flyhalf.
Coleman certainly has been able to threaten the defence with his unpredictability and direct attacking approach.
Modern rugby is as much about entertainment as it is about winning and this weekends final will be no exception. For Western Province will be most important as they have not won the title at home since 2001. The Lions will be difficult this weekend with their strong forward pack and some believe them to be the favourites. If the 2012 final is anything to go by, WP certainly play their best rugby when they are the underdogs.
