Evolution Explained, Response to MQ Moyo.

Sometimes I get frustrated when I read the tripe posted by seventh day adventists, creationists and other assorted morons. MyNews24 seems to have become a dumping ground for poorly written articles by people that have never read anything but a few verses of a book they were assured was the inerrant word of God. They also spend too much time on the web reading rubbish written by people that are mired in delusions.

Only a theory is the mating call of this subspecies of human development. They don't know the difference between a hypothesis and a theory and show their ignorance. They will claim as evidence the fact that millions believe. By that token every religion is absolutely correct because there are 10's of thousands of followers in even some of the most ridiculous faith systems. Scientology is a perfect religion because 1000's believe, heck even Tom Cruise is a member. That must just make it better right?

I am not a Scientist, merely a wood worker that spends time reading stuff. There is tons of Scientific stuff that I have not read and will never. The Big Bang Theory for instance is something I have seen a few articles about but have never researched for myself. I don't particularly care where it all started, but goddoneit has never been a real answer to me. It's up there with y being a crooked letter and you can't make it straight as an answer to a question.

As a non scientist I may not understand the finer details but here are the answers to your questions.

1. What is evolution?

Evolution is in it's simplest terms the change of species over time adapting to their habitats and life challenges. This occurs over time. Dogs don't become cats and chimpanzees don't become people.

At some time in the long distant past two groups of animals seperated and one went to live in a forest and the other on the plains. The forest cousins climbed trees and moved through thick brush, They adapted by developing thicker skin and more powerful torso's so that they could climb better. This did not happen overnight, it may have taken millenia.

The plains cousins developed stronger legs for running away from creatures that wanted to eat them. Millenia later the two cousins no longer resembled one another. This process was repeated a 1000 times or more. Every species on earth adapts to its environment or dies.

Some creatures like sharks and crocodiles have not evolved at all in millions of years because they dominate their environment and have no need to adapt.

2. Where did evolution start?

It started in the beginning duh!, The first creatures or amoebas or whatever adapted to their environment, changing to survive better in a dark pond, or in running water or a cave or where ever.

3. Is there evidence (facts or physical) for the process of evolution?

This is a stupid question. Scientists have been studying evolution since Charles Darwin made the hypothesis after seeing the Galapagos island finches. The evidence is mounting day by day. Google is your friend, just stay away from non scientific sources if you want the data.

4. Is there any current evidence/witness supporting evolution?

Evolution is currently happening in many species. The flu virus as an example, drug resistant TB, but the most interesting example I have seen is rats. Warfarin a blood thinnning drug used to treat humans is also used as an active ingredient in Rat Poison. There are colonies of rats that have developed a resistance to Warfarin. It is not killing them making warfarin ineffective as a pesticide. This is adapting to the challenges in their environment. Evolution in action in my lifetime.

Another example is My ancestors hail from Europe. I spent some time in Europe and noticed that people from the same clan as me had paler skin than I do. My wife is second generation African and has a paler skin than I do. Most White South Africans have developed more melatonin in their skins to wad off the African sun. When the English landed on this continent some 200 years ago, the locals called them rooi neks because they got bad sunburn on their necks just when doing their daily tasks. The English descendants of those first settlers don't suffer from this problem because they have adapted to the environment.

This is all evidence that I have seen myself. Scientists have genome maps, fossils and much other evidence, Once again if you Google it and stay away from the liars for Jesus websites the evidence is there and it's real.

a. Half-man Half ape?

There are no centaurs and minotaurs either. Chimpanzees don't become human, They just become smarter and start using tools. This has also happened in our lifetime.

b. Half-developed plant with clear evidence of where the ‘development’ is heading?

Evolution doesn't work like that. It is not predictive. If anything is half developed it would die. Every plant or in fact every single creature is fully developed exactly where it is in it's evolutionary cycle. A plant that currently relies on shallow roots may develop a deep tap root to access water from a deeper source, but you will never find a plant with an intermediary root that is not completely formed. Like you won't find a fish on land with fins.

5. What does evolution say about the future?

Nothing really except that change is inevitable. Evolution does not predict it only explains the current situation.
