Ewen McKenzie is a former World Cup winning Austalian prop, who is now also a former Wallaby head coach.
At 49, McKenzie has coached in both hemispheres since retiring from playing. He has coached Super Rugby franchises the Queensland Reds as well as the New South Wales Waratahs. McKenzie also spent a season coaching the French Top14 side, Stade Francias, in France.
McKenzie Played 37 matches for New South Wales Waratahs and played 36 matches for the Brumbies before retiring and taking up a role as the Coaching Co-ordinator at the Brumbies.
After leaving the Brumbies he spent 3 years as assistant coach to both Eddie Jones and Rod Macqueen at the Wallabies. McKenzie then took up the head coaching role of the Waratahs for 5 years, before moving on to coach Australia A and Stade Francias. In 2009 McKenzie took up the role as Director Of Rugby for the Queensland Reds. On 8 July 2013, McKenzie was named head coach of the Wallabies and quit on 18 October 2014.
His resignation came after a turbulent three weeks in the Australian camp, following controversy off-field with Kurtley Beale, and with McKenzie and the playing group and staff. As coach of the Wallabies, McKenzie, won 11 of 22 tests, for a winning percentage of just 50%.
