South Africa is under investigation for alleged bribery during the adjudication of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Let's all be crystal clear here, FIFA is one of the dirtiest organisations on the planet, illustrated by numerous books and documentaries easily accessible to the general public. FIFA even sanctioned a movie (United Passions) which flatteringly portrays Sepp Blatter's career (he had access to script-writing). Although a non-profit organisation officially, FIFA has amassed more than US$1 billion in CASH RESERVES. It lurches from corruption scandal to corruption scandal, but; like the Catholic Church, it is immune to retribution - controlling a religion like football guarantees protection.
In this light, that South Africa had to bribe officials is hardly surprising, and also hardly scandalous. Over more than a decade of running soccer like a Mafia Boss, it should be quite obvious that bribes are the name of the game. The fact that no South African officials are under investigation is tantamount to this fact: if no bribes were paid by South Africa, the World Cup would have been sold to the next highest bidder. That's as far as that discussion can go.
What this article is about is entirely something more revealing. The press has highlighted the rather handy figure of US$10 million, and whipped the public into a frenzy of anger and expectation over accountability. Who paid it? Where did it come from? Who is going to have their head chopped off to satisfy our blood-lust? Someone must surely be punished for squandering this money!
US$10 million equates to R120.4 million at today's exchange rate.
Jacob Zuma's Nkandla compound - despite the fact that the SABC and other press, and even Jacob Zuma himself refer to his "Nkandla Home", which is a disgusting euphemism for what it actually is, A COMPOUND - cost more than double this figure.
It is unfortunate that Zuma spent so much money on his compound of mansions; had he spend R25million, the public would have had a much more comprehensive grasp of exactly how much money we are talking about here. To be sure, he built a R25million compound of mansions exactly 9.84 times. I can only surmise that he knew exactly what he was doing: hearing a number like R246million is basically the same as hearing R2million for most people in this country, where even R1million is considered a lottery jackpot.
Zuma's Nkandla compound of mansions, therefore, demands FAR GREATER OUTRAGE than the current corruption allegations leveled at SAFA officials. That Zuma is protected by thuggery at the top of the ANC should be vehemently disgusting to every single citizen of this country. The criminality being displayed by the ANC is destroying this country.
