How and why a Dictator is born

A sad day indeed. Well it was about to happen sooner or later. You cannot run a country on votes alone. Perhaps a good idea to up the voting age to 21.

Yes I am deeply concerned. Yes anyone with a bit of savvy is deeply concerned.

When last has the government shared a good news story? Many  folk that comment on this forum have not visited a township recently.

We install home solar units so get a better idea of what’s going down inside and outside the home in township areas. By and large the standard of living is dropping for white and black neighbourhoods. Connecting with people from all walks of life one gets a message.

Many white folk are saying they will not vote for the DA again. Many black folk say they will be voting for the ANC again and again and again. In the same sentence most complain bitterly about everything from service delivery to crime all the daily problems we face. However when asked why they keep voting for the ANC the simplest answer is that they regard them the only party viable to vote for. The general consensus is that Zuma is going these coming elections however they will still vote for him anyway.

Younger people seem to secretly admire Juju but will not say this out aloud. They seem to like the concept of being offered free land and jobs and food and university education.

Let us face it if I was poor and unemployed and hungry and a well fed looking guy with an expensive looking watch and a smooth tongue promises me a free house and free monthly cash and free groceries and on top of that the house he is offering belongs to a former or current employer. I somehow think I would believe the messiah has arrived. In the crowd it just sounds like such a terrific concept and thousands standing next to me all seem to agree with this. Why not? Of course I am going to vote for him.

The fact that the current government made exactly the same promises twenty years ago although they never lived up to it means nothing. Here is the new messiah telling me exactly why it never transpired and giving all the reasons why he will and . He also blames the right people in the wrong way.

Perhaps loyalty in numbers plays a big part or fear of the unknown. No one knows why people actually eat all this that they get fed everyday. A fear of the unknown perhaps?

One huge issue is perhaps putting the facts in perspective and delivering them in an understandable format. How about simplifying the process and deliver results year by year in an understandable format like a general scoring card with points out of ten for achievement on promises made?

One for local municapility, provincial and national.

Then again only hearing via the media the music is good and the show is good and of course the KFC and free t shirts also.

One needs to remember looking back in history these hard times is when a dictator is more likely to get born. It is during these hard times that a dictator gets voted into power.

Old habits die hard and if I have been doing the same thing for twenty years it is going to take a bit more to get my vote as we all believe in the pot of gold on the other side of the rainbow. There are no simple solutions to a simple problem it would seem. This person also seems to do his homework before addressing the crowds so they play in his hands all the way.Like a well scripted actor saying the right sounding things at the right time.

I think its called politics..............
