If I were the Devil in South Africa...

If I were the Devil in South Africa I'd whisper to Helen Zille and Jacob Zuma that they should never listen to the public... but ironically yell as loudly as they can to the public, "We are listening!" so that is all that they hear;

I would convince the people that right and wrong are determined by a few who call themselves authorities and refer to their agenda as politically correct;

I would convince people that character and community service are not considerations when choosing leaders and that all that matters is DA blue or ANC gold;

I would delude their minds into thinking that the power they have entrusted the self-serving politician with are blessings from voters who dared to hope of service;

I would promise the voters austerity and transparency and then laugh as I did exactly the opposite whilst knowing they are powerless to seek justice for another 5 years after they failed to seek justice the previous 5 years;

I would promote an attitude of materialism and abusing voter trust whilst pretending My actions are the other way around;

I would make them opposition who would rage against capitalism whilst driving fancy cars and living in big houses;

I would suck goodness out of society whilst sending the politicians to church, making some of them pastors;

I would convince citizens that big business is there to help them and that they can help the economy by gambling what they have, and for those who will not give in, I will give them unions that will preach the opposite whilst doing the same;

I would tell them that bankers are their friends and then start my own bank so as to transfer their wealth to Myself;

I would make their pay so small and the price of food so high before convincing them that they can live their dreams now, granting them loans that will enslave them and their children to Me for the rest of their lives;

I would remove the Self and make them like Me, the Self-Servant.

I would tell them that tik is evil and then bribe the police to look the other way whilst I sell it to the people they are suppose to protect;

I would make the police aware that they are powerful and that the powerful should help themselves;

I would promote chauvinism and radical feminism so that people are afraid to be themselvess;

I would ban euthanasia and marijuana oil so that I could enjoy watching those in pain and dying;

I would make human life so disgusting to humans so that the lives of animals are worshiped more than the children I made poor;

I would abuse animals, making more of them than they can ever save;

I will make meat so convenient and milk so creamy that carnivores will feel guilty and vegetarians will pretend that the dairy industry isn't linked to the meat industry;

I would attack the family unit, especially the middle class, the backbone of any country;

I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute the mind of every family member with my agenda so that they ironically love Me;

I would promote needless toys and accessories to target the youth with, and I would get their sports heroes and music idols to advertise them;

I would ensure that teachers were frustrated and school books were missing because children with poor education are more likely to believe and do what I say without question;

I would, with all these things, make the lives of parents so miserable that they would stop parenting whilst blaming the teachers;

I would make serial killers likeable on movie screens so that they become cultural icons and in turn breed children who stab children as solutions to loneliness and frustration;

I would promote ego so that heterosexuals oppose homosexuality based on my word instead of fact, justifying corrective rape;

I would take advantage of that dreaded disease AIDS and make the victims ostracised by those who don not have it, and I would make those desperate outsiders think they can cure themselves with babies used like condoms;

I would dull or scare the minds of good people, making them believe that morals are optional, sharing is unimportant and that hiding isn't hiding but just keeping to themselves;

I would destroy friendship by replacing trust and faithfulness with neediness and abuse;

I would tell them that they are not responsible for their choices and that some one else is always to blame;

I would promote helplessness even though they have the power to defeat me;

I would promote willful ignorance so that they can pretend they are doing something whilst doing nothing;

I would start it over, giving them elections again and again...

I guess I would leave things pretty much the way they are now.

Serendipitously, whilst i pondered the death of Mandela, the theft of South Africa by Zuma and his cohorts, and the refusal by Helen Zille and Alan Winde to address the DA's complicit corruption in my town, a derivative of Paul Harvey's essay, 'If I Were the Devil', slid into my Inbox. It had being sent by the Snordster, a member of Veteran's Today and one of my few think-for-himself readers, in response to my sharing 'The Criminalization of Everyday Life'.

Harvey was a national radio commentator in the USA in the Sixties. Through the generations, he has inspired many versions to match zeitgeist, the spirit of the age. Harvey postulated what he'd do to corrupt civilisation if he were the Devil.

Today, i was the Devil, sharing our age of a thieving, bloody South Africa. I did so in the Hope that you'd see right through me and take back control of your lives.
