Is crime taking over this country?

The Security Systems of this Country lives much to be desired, a comment made by the DA MP Ms Diane Kohler Barnard on Interface on SABC 2, Wed 23rd raised much disconcert about security measures taken against foreign invasion. She was commenting on the Druglords that seem to make our Law Enforcement Agencies look like clowns.

She presumptuously said “they are able to penetrate our airspace; habours and our borders with ease, they are technically advanced and are always one step ahead of our military and police force. I am not sure what that means, are we so vulnerable that this country has become a haven for criminal and commercial insurgencies.

The issue of the arms deal by the Seriti Commission is it really intended to investigate the corrupt individual/s who were involved in unlawful acts for financial gain, and to punish those guilty accordingly.

Or is it about the security of the country to guard against illegal immigrants and foreign invasion that drives this Commission to waste the tax payer’s money, instead of investing on matters that are destroying the Moral fiber of this country, like Crime; HIV/Aids.

The Police Force needs a bit of revamping, such that a mutual relationship is established between the community they serve and the Police Officers who are always in contact with the people.

The Citizens of this Country deserve the Right according to the South African Constitution to be safe and secure in their homeland, regardless of the Immigration Laws, and also an atmosphere that constitutes a positive interaction with the police and the community should be a priority.

It is conducive that the communities have trust in the police force that all criminal offenders are speedily brought to justice, with effective punishment according to the Laws of the Country.
